Is Apathy a sin or is it psychological self defence mechanism that kicks in when a human being can’t/won’t/confused/unable to decide what kind of religion to follow. Or finds that Religious bodies and "God" can’t accept Him/her?
I think I follow you. You are saying that since the Christians will damn you if choose to accept Islam and Muslims will damn you if accept Christianity you just can’t get too worried about being damned. This is not to pick on just the Christians or the Muslims since they will also damn one another just as quickly. I don’t think the Religion vs. Reason question creates apathy in most people. I wish that it did, since if people didn’t really care about these things they would be less willing to kill one another over their differences. All religion is poison.
I was wondering what kind of self defence class is best. I want to know how to defend myself if somebody tries to hurt me or something like that. Something like judo, karate, taekwondo, ect. Just wondering what is best.
gracie jiu-jitsu…….there is no selfdefence like it..it has changed the world of matial arts forever.but you must be able to train hard and not be a sissy.try it .i know youll love it as i do
Like if a lion savaged a lion tamer who was whipping him, or a dog giving a deep bite to someone who had been kicking it? Do they still get put down, or do they have a right to self defence?
should put the trainer down, it seems that animals have no right to self defence,
my next door neighbour had a gentle sweet rottweiler, and one of the local boys (11) at the time used to throw stones at her every time he went past twice a day to and from school.
my neighbour sent pictures to the boys parents and the police telling them what this brat was doing. one day the dog was free in the garden and the boy hit her with a stick again caught on film, the dog bit him, within 48 hours the dog was dead, police not interested in the real evidence, just that a dog had bitten a boy where is the justice in that.
What are the most effective forms of self defence?
Realistic ones say against knives, guns, bottles, in and around cars against mulitple mugger who if you end up on the floor kick your head in…Maybe in a subway train, bus bar etc not a nice clean dojo and one that can teach you to be resourceful and utilize whats around you ie pool cue
Street fight dirty not sport. Ideally one that can get you aggressive enough to psychologically be able to fight and willing if you are too nice.
Plus how to you do ‘anit freeze’ as in anti when you get into reral trouble freeze up and go cold and weak like a bunny in headlights reagardless of how well you did in class?
I will offer a few suggestions (and really rough sketches):
Jeet Kune Do (developed by Bruce Lee – taught to general public, military and law enforcement – not really an art with belts and not traditional, more of a system and way of thinking about self-defence – you choose which arts you want to specialize more in depending on your liking, keep the good parts of different arts, throw out the bad parts ie. stuff that doesn’t work). You may learn stuff like Kali (filipino stick and knife-fighting), Wing Chun, Boxing, grappling, etc.
Krav Maga (Israeli self-defence taught to their military, also to military and law enforcement in the US, also no belts or tradition) Very simple and effective hand-to-hand combat (close range), deal with knives and other weapons too.
You have to understand that there are different ranges when it comes to fighting – kicking range, punching range, grappling range and ground-fighting. You need to know how to defend yourself in these different ranges. You can do different things in each range ie. in kicking range, all you can do is kick, too far away to throw a punch.
I think another very important thing to consider besides the system is the instructor. Is your instructor open-minded, willing to adapt the technique to different situations, does he allow you to ask questions, will he show you the advantages and disadvantages of different techniques in response to different types of attack? Does he train you under realistic scenarios where you are stressed and the adrenaline is going? The psychological preparedness in training is very important because even if you have the physical tools, without the proper mental mindset, you won’t be able to use the techniques in real life. This part relates to the last part of your question. All these things can be trained if under the right instructor.
